Exact tests for two-way contingency tables with structural zeros

چکیده
Fisher’s exact test, named for Sir Ronald Aylmer Fisher, tests contingency tables for homogeneity of proportion. This paper discusses a generalization of Fisher’s exact test for the case where some of the table entries are constrained to be zero. The resulting test is useful for assessing cases where the null hypothesis of conditional multinomial distribution is suspected to be false. The test is implemented in the form of a new R package, aylmer. This vignette is based on West and Hankin (2008).

Markov chain Monte Carlo exact tests for incomplete two-way contingency tables
We consider testing the quasi-independence hypothesis for two-way contingency tables which contain some structural zero cells. For sparse contingency tables where the large sample approximation is not adequate, the Markov chain Monte Carlo exact tests are powerful tools. To construct a connected chain over the two-way contingency tables with fixed sufficient statistics and an arbitrary configur...
متن کاملMarkov bases and subbases for bounded contingency tables
In this paper we study the computation of Markov bases for contingency tables whose cell entries have an upper bound. In general a Markov basis for unbounded contingency table under a certain model differs from a Markov basis for bounded tables. Rapallo and Rogantin (2007) applied Lawrence lifting to compute a Markov basis for contingency tables whose cell entries are bounded. However, in the p...
متن کاملExact P - values in Incomplete Multi - way Tables ∗
I develop a new Markov chain algorithm for sampling from sets of multi-way contingency tables defined by an arbitrary set of fixed marginals and by lower and upper bounds constraints on cell counts. My procedure is called the Bounds Sampling Algorithm (BSA) and it relies on the existence of a method to calculate lower and upper bounds for cell entries. BSA accommodates any pattern of structural...
متن کاملConditional Inference on Tables with Structural Zeros
We describe a sequential importance sampling approach to making conditional inferences on two-way zero-one and contingency tables with fixed marginal sums and a given set of structural zeros. Our method enables us to approximate closely the null distributions of various test statistics about these tables, as well as to obtain an accurate estimate of the total number of tables satisfying the con...
متن کاملEstimation of the Correlation Coefficient for Triangular Contingency Tables under the Bivariate Normal Distribution
Triangular contingency tables are a special class of incomplete contingency tables. Association and independence models are used to analyze such tables. Association models can be described in terms of the association parameters for the analysis of triangular contingency tables having ordered categories. The aim of this study is to show the relation between the association parameters of the unif...
